Laboratory Medicine Consultation Program Overview

CLM has developed an unprecedented type of laboratory medicine consultation service. Historically, pathology has focused on measuring specific indicators of a patient's condition at a specific point in time with respect to general population norms. In contrast, the Laboratory Medicine Consultation ("LMC") program, which has a pending business process patent, assists physicians by monitoring and providing insightful interpretation of collections of such indicators, across the continuum of care and in the context of the patient's full clinical history, current condition, and medical regimen.

Each LMC results in a report which assembles, analyzes and correlates data from sources including current and historical laboratory data, health system maintained patient data, practice medical records, drug-lab and drug-drug databases, and nationally recognized clinical guidelines. The reports are delivered by courier, printer or fax.

The goals of each LMC are to:
Potentially reduce diagnostic error through systematic evaluation of new and historic lab data in view of patient's total clinical history.

Evaluate trends and velocity changes which may be signaling an alteration in the patient's clinical condition.

Advise of potential drug-drug and drug-lab interactions.

Potentially improve physician efficiency by succinctly organizing patient data.

Potentially decrease malpractice liability due to failure to diagnose.

Decrease medical costs by early detection of changes in patient condition.

Enhance patient education through personalized patient information and web links.
