The complexity of blood administration is becoming more relevant with the increasing screens for infectious diseases as well as the declining donor base. Furthermore, special blood products have specific use, but in many cases are not appropriately ordered. Therefore, Consultants in Laboratory Medicine offers a Transfusion Medicine Consultation Service utilizing our board certified Transfusion Medicine, Blood Banking Specialist. We will evaluate the patient's medical condition and in concert with the attending physician make appropriate recommendations for blood product administration.
